Now that my studies are nearing completion, I am embarking on a new work called ‘Outside of Study’. A pun, that considers firstly, the notion of moving forward from my studies and secondly, what lies physically outside my study window.
At first, this line of direction may appear whimsical, however as the thumbnail sketches indicate (although the perspective is not true to life), I am still very much working with ‘Power and Control’ yet, this time, a Hitchcockian form of study of not only voyeurism but also surveillance.
The sketchers roughly show a vista through an inside window (the study window) looking at an outside aspect of another window to another room beyond. The sketches speak of glimpsing through drawn curtains and questioning what potentially lies emotionally in another dwelling.
